Everton midfielder Mo Besic is tempted by a move back to Middlesborough as he demands to know where he stands with boss Marco Silva, according to the Northern Echo.

The newspaper reports on their website that the 25-year-old wants to sort out his future at Goodison Park with Silva before he makes any decision about returning to Teeside, where he was on loan last season.

Following the new manager’s appointment, the Everton enforcer reportedly wants an opportunity to shine in the Premier League this season, with Besic keen to impress Silva at the top level of English football, of which he could not do last season under former boss Sam Allardyce.

OPINION

Besic clearly enjoyed his time under Boro boss Tony Pulis in the Championship last season, making 26 appearances for the club. It is understandable why the Bosnian international is tempted by Middlesborough again, as he was not getting regular game time. However, that was under ex-Toffees boss Allardyce, who considered Besic surplus to requirements and sent him out on loan, meaning he never had the chance to impress his former boss. Under Silva, he has that opportunity, and he may now have the chance to play regularly at a top level. Pulis will be keen to get Besic back, but this prospect may seem harder this time around following the new appointment at Merseyside. Besic is good on his day and Silva would welcome his services, providing stability to the back four in a competitive league with prolific goalscorers. Let’s hope Besic makes the most of this opportunity and shows Silva what he can really do.
