Newcastle United have targeted Swansea striker Jordan Ayew as a potential signing this summer, and are ready to battle it out with newly-promoted Fulham for the Ghanaian’s signature according to Football Ghana – and it has had mixed reactions from the Magpies faithful.
The 26-year-old netted 11 goals for Swansea last season, but that was not enough as they were relegated from the Premier League last season.
Fulham have already had a £8million bid for the Ghanaian international rejected by the Welsh outfit and now Newcastle are preparing to slog it out with the Premier League newcomers in a bid to land Ayew.
Newcastle are in need of more attacking threat up front, and boss Rafa Benitez has identified Ayew as the player that can add that extra bit of quality to this team.
The Newcastle faithful should be relieved that the club are battling it out to sign a new striker, especially has they have been quiet on the transfer front so far this summer.
Here is a selection of Twitter responses from Newcastle supporters in reaction to the club’s pursuit of Swansea forward Jordan Ayew:
Since when would we ever pay £13 million for a squad player

If Swansea want £13m, NUFC definitely aren’t paying that.

If we could sell Gayle and bring him in for a few extra mil, that would be good business. We’d still need a first choice striker.
