Premier League rivals Newcastle, Everton and Southampton are all in hot pursuit over Spartak Moscow’s Dutch winger Quincy Promes this summer, according to the Daily Echo.

The newspaper report on their website that the top flight trio are all chasing the 26-year-old winger after his sensational form with the Russian side, scoring 21 goals across all competitions as well as chipping in with 10 goals.

Known for his electrifying pace down the flanks, Promes has picked up 26 caps and netted four times for the Netherlands, it is said that Southampton are looking at returning for his capture after failing in January, but that the Magpies and the Toffees will pose a threat to their chances.

Opinion

Those with a vested interest in European football will know all about Promes and what he will bring to the Premier League, with his record at Spartak Moscow pretty impressive. Despite being utilised primarily as a winger, he has netted at exactly a rate of a goal every two games with 64 in 128 appearance, and it should come as no surprise that English top flight sides are keen on snapping him up. Still, making the transition from any league to England can be difficult, especially when it is not necessarily one of the top divisions in Europe. His record in continental competitions, such as the Europa League and Champions League leaves much to be desired having only featured in 10 games, with one sensational performance against Sevilla last year seeing him score twice and chip in with two assists for his only meaningful contributions on the European stage. As such, he is still a risky swoop for a Premier League side, and there is no guarantee he will cut the mustard were he signed.
