Liverpool’s bitter rivals Manchester United have made a bid for Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir after his move to Anfield broke down, according to Le Progres.

The French website claims that Fekir is subject to many offers, the latest of which coming from Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils.

It is understood that Jurgen Klopp had all but secured the signing of the Lyon star, only for the deal to fall through at the last minute after arguments over the final transfer fee.

Yet now, the Reds will face an uphill battle to secure the France international, as United are just as much an attractive team to play for as are Liverpool.

OPINION

Jurgen Klopp must have a headache concerning this transfer, as it has gone from one disaster to another. Fekir is a wonderful talent, and was all but guaranteed to be a Liverpool player, yet negotiations broke down with the Reds looking to reduce to fee due to a medical concern. Klopp’s loss could be Mourinho’s gain, however, as the report indicates that United are the most recent team to have filed an offer for the attacking talent. Fekir is still away on duty with France at the World Cup, and will face Argentine at 3 o clock this afternoon [Saturday] for a place in the quarter-finals. The transfer saga is likely to heat up should France be eliminated, as Fekir’s focus will no longer be on the international team. There is no surprise that more teams are showing an interest in the forward, given his sensational play with Lyon, particularly last season where the 24-year-old scored a massive 22 goals. Klopp must move fast, as the wages, first-team chances and squad role are all likely to be similar at Old Trafford, so this one could go down to personal preference.
