Tottenham Hotspur are to ramp up their interest in signing Manchester United winger Anthony Martial as part of their £100 million transfer plans this summer, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports on their website that Spurs are to meet with United officials next week to discuss a potential deal for the 6 foot (source: Transfermarkt) speed machine, who recently missed out on a place in France’s squad for this summer’s World Cup.

It is stated that, Tottenham officials are hoping to line up a move for the 22-year-old in order to fulfil Pochettino’s transfer targets, with the Argentine boss having identified Martial to add much needed speed and pace to his side, of which they have been lacking.

Good move for Tottenham?

Martial is infamous for his pacy runs at Manchester United, and Pochettino has identified this area in his transfer brief at Spurs.

His speed will give him an edge over defenders, and provide that much needed service to the likes of star striker Harry Kane.

The Red Devils man netted 11 goals in all competitions last season, which means he is capable of contributing to Spurs’ goal tally as well as providing assists.

At 22, he is still young, but will be entering the prime of his career in the next few years, something of which Pochettino will be wanting to take full advantage of.

Likely to happen?

Martial is said to be unsettled at Old Trafford, which will mean he will want to push through a move to a club like Spurs.

However, United want to get back some of the money that they paid for Martial in 2015, and this may prove to be an obstacle in Pochettino’s aim to sign the youngster.

All Tottenham need to do is progress with talks with the United officials, and hope that a deal will be on the cards with no bumps along the way.
