Liverpool have been given a boost in their quest to sign Real Madrid star Marco Asensio, according to SPORT.

The Spanish outlet claim that the Spanish giants need to sell the 22-year-old this summer, in order to fund a move for PSG superstar Neymar.

The report also claims that a move for the Brazilian could cost as much as £264million, but they would need to sell the Spaniard to afford the possible world-record transfer.

This paves the way for Liverpool to clinch Asensio’s signature, with reports suggesting they were ready to pay £158 million for the wonderkid, according to TeleMadrid.

Good move for Liverpool?

This would be an unbelievable transfer coup if Liverpool could pull this off.

The 22-year-old is one of the brightest talents in world football and would improve any squad in Europe.

The Spaniard is a wonderful talent, with outstanding dribbling and passing ability, he’s able to carve through defences at will.

He’s also got real pace and a cracking shot from distance, he’s the whole package.

This kid is the real deal.

Likely to happen?

If Real Madrid are serious about signing Neymar, they will need to sell Asensio to pass FFP restrictions.

It would be a controversial transfer, a former Barcelona player going to their bitter rivals, and the transfer fees involved sound astronomical.

In regards to Liverpool, with Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah currently in their wide attacking positions, are they targeting the attacker because they’re preparing for a departure?

This deal doesn’t look particularly likely, but anything can happen in football.
