It has been reported that Liverpool could be lining up a £25million swoop for Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
German newspaper BILD has reported that Liverpool are joined by Arsenal and Atletico Madrid in eyeing up Leno, 26, for this summer.
However, although goalkeeper is a desperate position of need for Jurgen Klopp’s side, it seems that the Liverpool faithful are not inspired by this proposed transfer.
Some fans even took to Twitter to rage over the link, and here are a few of the best reactions:
If not Oblak no please. I am tired with potential keepers. Karius, mignolet etc please buy an established world class

NO NO NO , Haven’t we learned from trying our luck already, Just get the real deal , Alisson or Oblak, 80m is worth it , You wouldn’t get a keeper his quality that price anymore at that price some few years to come , This is a decade long investment , Stop wasting time @LFC ?

No we need a top class keeper and not another type of mignolet, I don't think that he's better than karius. We want a top class keeper like oblak or Alison

No. Not a significant upgrade IMO. Leno won’t help us win the PL or CL. Have to go all out for Oblak (1st) or Alisson (2nd).

It is clear that the fans are demanding a keeper to a higher standard, with the names Jan Oblak or Alisson being thrown about as a suggestion.
Liverpool have previously been linked with both of the above players, but they are likely to fetch much more in terms of a transfer sum than is Leno.
A lot of the fan reaction stems from the fact that they see their team as ready to win now, with the exception of the goalkeeper position, which presumably comes from Loris Karius’s Champions League horror show.
It is clear that Liverpool need new legs between the sticks, either to challenge Karius for the number one spot, or to demote him completely, but as it is, for Reds fans Leno is not the answer.
