Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is plotting stunning face-to-face talks with the family of Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele in a bid to prise him from Barcelona this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Spanish sports news outlet claim that the German boss is desperate to try and take the 21-year-old speed machine from the Catalan giants, even though the Reds have told him that unless he sells his star man Mohamed Salah, they will not be moving for the French international, who dazzled on Friday night in the win over Italy.

Klopp has also reportedly been handed a blow by the 10-cap star’s demands for first team football, having made just 24 appearances over the last season, and in a bid to try and convince him Liverpool would be the right move, the former Borussia Dortmund coach is said to hold face-to-face talks with the players and those around him, including an ambitious attempt to convince the youngster’s mother.

Good move for Liverpool?

The Reds certainly need some more quality in depth when it comes to their attack, with a distinct lack of options behind those in the starting XI.

Dembele would not be happy featuring as a fringe figure but with he talents, he could oust the likes of Sadio Mane or Roberto Firmino if he goes on a hot streak of form.

He would be the sort of marquee signing that Liverpool fans are always desperate to see at Anfield, and it is no wonder that Klopp is so keen on taking him to Merseyside, with his expert close control, lightning pace and attacking vision.

At 21, he has so far to go in his career and the German boss would just love to see him develop under his stewardship – he best hope that he can charm his mum.

Likely to happen?

This will all depend on what else happens as the transfer window progresses.

If his arrival is dependent on the exit of Mo Salah, then there will not be a Liverpool fan around who wants him signed, for the Egyptian is an absolute hero at Anfield after his sensational form last season.

The Reds also cannot guarantee him first team football right now and so the player himself may rebuff the advances of Klopp.
