Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers should make a move for Danny Ings, after it was reported that the Liverpool forward wants to quit Anfield in search of regular football.

According to the Telegraph, the 25-year-old has made a decision to leave the club despite being offered the chance to sign a new long-term deal and Jurgen Klopp’s desire to see him stay.

Rodgers is extremely familiar with the wantaway forward, as the Hoops boss actually signed Ings for Liverpool back in the summer of 2015.

Ings would represent a quality signing for the Hoops, and could stand to serve as a long-term replacement should Moussa Dembele should he leave Parkhead in the near future.

Ings hasn’t had a lot of luck at Anfield, suffering a huge setback due to injury, which in turn has also hindered his Reds playing time.

However, should the former England international manage to stay fit, the chances at first-team football would be much higher in Glasgow, which is what the 25-year-old seeks.

Liverpool are keen to keep the striker, but it is understood that Jurgen Klopp understands Ings reasons for wanting to relocate.

Rodgers must look to take advantage of this situation, and bolster his forward line with a quick bid.

It is unlikely that Celtic would have to break the bank to land the 25-year-old, due to the club’s understanding of his situation.

With two years left on Ings’ current contract (Transfermarkt) the chance of a second free transfer for Ings looks unlikely, but with a value of just under £7million that will not be unreachable for the Hoops.

Rodgers will have to move fast to once again sign Ings, before any other clubs look to take advantage of his wantaway attitude.
