Liverpool will green light the temporary exit of midfielder Marko Grujic this summer with newly promoted Fulham chasing his capture, according to Goal.

The football news website report that the Cottagers, returning to the Premier League after winning the Championship play offs, are keen on taking the 22-year-old midfield colossus, who stands at 6’2″ (source: Transfermarkt), on loan, with a number of clubs following close behind.

However, with the seven-cap Serbia star set to play for his country at the World Cup this summer, it is stated that there could well be more interest in his capture if he performs well out in Russia.

Opinion

At 22, Grujic is facing that crossroads in his career that so many young footballers reach at one stage or another. He really must be deciding whether he wants to keep heading out on loan from Anfield, where he has 14 appearances for the Reds’ first team, to try and battle it out for more game time under Jurgen Klopp next season, or whether to try and secure a permanent exit to pick up more game time at a club where he feels settled. Liverpool also need to choose whether he is ever going to be good enough for the first team or not, and if the latter, then ship him out for a fee and get him off the wage bill. Fulham would be a good place for him to go, be it temporarily or on a permanent deal, for they are an exciting side who will surprise a fair few next season. That is without mentioning the fact fellow countryman Slavisa Jokanovic is manager, so at least he would have a friendly face to help him settle in quickly at Craven Cottage.
