Liverpool are looking to offload Serbian midfielder Marko Grujic on loan once again with former side Cardiff City keen on taking him back to Wales, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claim on the live transfer blog on their website (02/06, 08:30) that the Reds are willing to let the Serbian giant, who stands at 6’2″, (source: Transfermarkt) head out on another temporary deal after falling down the pecking order at Anfield following the arrivals of Naby Keity and Fabinho.

The 22-year-old, who has six caps for his country and is in their squad for the World Cup, spent the second half of the season out on loan at Cardiff, helping the Bluebirds secure promotion to the Premier League in his 14 appearances having featured fleetingly for Liverpool.

Good move for Liverpool?

Grujic looks like his Anfield career might be coming to a close after this latest bombshell, with the Reds’ recruitment meaning he will struggle to ever have the chance to star for the first team.

He has made as many appearances for Liverpool since signing back in 2016 as he did for Cardiff in a five month spell in Wales, and most of those for his parent club came as substitute cameos.

Jurgen Klopp might think there is something there which can be nurtured and perhaps a season in the Premier League will be his make-or-break campaign, and will give the German manager a definitive answer on whether to keep him.

Still, his chances of game time at Anfield are minimal so sending him out, be it permanently or temporarily, seems for the best.

Likely to happen?

Cardiff certainly seemed to like what they saw from the Serbian colossus during his stay at the club and it seems as though they are willing to reward him with some top flight action.

If Liverpool are willing to send him out and Neil Warnock’s side are keen to do a deal, then it is a no-brainer.

Only way this will not happen is if another club hijack the Bluebirds’ bid.
