Liverpool’s hunt for dazzling Olympique Lyonnais forward Nabil Fekir has taken a stunning twist as a potential bombshell has dropped following his medical, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper state on their website that despite a deal for the 24-year-old attacking midfielder seemingly all but done, with terms agreed between the Reds and both the club, with a £53million fee, and the player, there are now doubts over whether the move will be completed.

It is reported that the major bombshell came after the Liverpool medical team spent time putting the French international through his paces before concluding the deal, but that concerns have emerged to prevent a deal from being completed as expected.

Opinion

Fekir’s signing was never going to be easy but this is something that no once could have expected. The French forward did suffer a major knee injury a couple of years ago, so there could be something in that, but at the moment those outside the physio’s room seem to be left in the dark. This would be an absolute hammer blow both for Liverpool and the player, who have been pushing for a move to Anfield since the summer started. Gambles have been taken before – Newcastle making a success out of Demba Ba despite his own knee issues – and if there is just a small chance of something going wrong, then it might be worth the risk. Of course, Liverpool do not want to be splashing out big money on a player who will be perpetually injured – looking at you Daniel Sturridge – and it seems as though they have got to make a crucial decision as to how they progress.
