Everton are eyeing up a swoop to sign Celta Vigo midfielder Daniel Wass as his future at the La Liga club looks uncertain, according to Marca.

The Spanish sports website reports that Everton and Serie A outfit AS Roma are both considering a swoop to sign the ex-Brondby ace this summer, with the 29-year-old having just one-year left on his current contract.

It is understood that “agents” of Celta Vigo could be negotiating a deal with the Toffees that would take Wass to Goodison Park this summer.

The Denmark international’s foreseeable future at Celta Vigo does not look certain, with the club finding it difficult to agree a new contract with Wass following conflict between them and the player’s agent, Stellar Group.

Good move for Everton?

The midfielder enjoyed an impressive season in the 2017/2018 campaign, netting four goals and laying on a further nine assists in 36 appearances for the La Liga outfit, operating as a central midfielder in the majority of his displays.

Everton would appreciate a player of Wass’ quality in their own midfield, especially as he has the ability to produce fantastic crosses, produce top-level set pieces and provide quality passing.

He is an experienced player who has proved his worth in the Spanish top-flight, meaning this would be a fantastic move for the Toffees.

Likely to happen?

With Wass and Celta Vigo so far failing to negotiate a new deal due to behind-the-scenes conflict, the likelihood of Everton landing him is very likely.

Even if they do not sign him this summer, he only has one year left on his current contract, so the club would be able to snap him up in next summer’s transfer window if it did not go to plan this time.

Wass could be attracted to a move to England, and a move to Goodison Park would be ideal for him and for Everton.
