Everton are in the hunt to sign Swedish attacker Emil Forsberg this summer, according to Calcio Mercato.

The Italian outlet claim that Marco Silva’s side are interested in Forsberg, who has a contract with his current club side RB Leipzig until 2022.

The 26-year-old had an impressive campaign last year, as his performances helped his club side to a sixth place finish in the Bundesliga.

The Swedish attacker is currently starring for his national team at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, but that hasn’t stopped speculation about his future.

Good move for Everton?

It would be a massive coup.

Marco Silva will be on the lookout for high-quality technically gifted players and Forsberg definitely fits into that category.

The Swede has had a terrific season in German football with RB Leipzig, which has attracted big clubs around Europe, with Everton the latest side to be linked.

He’s natural playing on the left side of attack, and although he can also play on the right, he’s much more comfortable cutting inside from the left onto his right foot where the can do the most damage.

Likely to happen?

Toffees fans will hope that his performances at the World Cup don’t push his price up, as big clubs could price them out of a move if a bidding war starts.

If Silva is able to clinch the signature of the former Malmo winger in the next few weeks, it would really excite the Goodison Park supporters ahead of the new Premier League season.

Hopefully, they can seal the deal before the bigger clubs come calling.
