Everton defender Ashley Williams could be offloaded this summer by Toffees boss Marco Silva according to the Mirror, who is willing to listen to any offers for his veteran centre-back.

Aston Villa are in serious needs of defensive reinforcements and must consider taking on the experienced Wales international if they want to stand a chance of promotion.

The Evening Standard reported that John Terry left Villa Park in late May, and Steve Bruce’s side are looking incredibly weak on the defensive front and need a centre-back of Williams’ calibre to strengthen a team that is set to lose a handful of players.

The 33-year-old senior player has not started a game for the Toffees since March in their match against Burnley, and Silva has decided that he is looking to get him off the books – but Aston Villa must snap him up if they want a quality defender amongst their ranks.

Williams would undoubtedly be seeking first team football again after being left surplus to requirements at Goodison Park, and Aston Villa appear to be the perfect fit for him.

The Welshman is not capable of playing competitively in the Premier League anymore, and representing a club like Villa will be the perfect opportunity to play out the rest of his career away from the glare of the Premier League.

He has one to two years left in him at least, and the Premier League has adapted in to an incredibly fast-paced game that he simply cannot keep up with anymore.

Williams would thrive under Bruce and the manager would make him feel wanted, rather than feeling unwanted under the guidance of Marco Silva.

He still has a lot to prove at the age of 33, and Bruce would be lucky to land a player like Williams, who can provide stability to rocky defences and put himself on the line for his team.
