Former Arsenal player Emmanuel Petit is hoping that Unai Emery’s consistent success can transcend to English football.

Emery has tasted success at two previous clubs, having won trophies at both Sevilla and PSG, and Petit is praying that this continues at the Emirates.

“I think he’s a talented coach, he’s got a specific vision on the pitch, just like he did with Sevilla,” Petit told Arsenal.com.

“I really hope that he can do that with Arsenal. I hope the leaders of the dressing room will follow his steps and his orders.”

Arsenal have not been short of trophies in recent seasons, having won the FA Cup three times in the last five seasons; yet it is the Premier League that the fans so desire.

OPINION

Unai Emery could be the person to rescue Arsenal as a bonafide Premier League contender, which is what he has done at both of his previous clubs. Granted, PSG were expected to win the French Ligue 1 last season, but the way in which they did it was mesmerising. The French giants scored a whopping 108 goals during their 38 game season, with an illustrious forward line full to the brim with creativity and pace. This is strikingly similar to the situation at Arsenal, as the Gunners have a host of World Class talent in their front line, with some lightning fast players. What Petit says is paramount, the senior players must adapt to Emery’s mannerisms and way of football fast, and readjust from the Arsene Wenger era. This could be a tough task given Wenger’s history at the Club, but it could be what is needed to succeed. The Gunners front line on form could be the scariest to play against in the entire league, with speed machine Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leading the line. Emery must look to his senior players to enforce the new regimes intro fruition amongst the dressing room, which in turn could become beneficial to all involved.
