Former Aston Villa striker turned pundit,Stan Collymore has been raving on social media after hearing a report about Arsenal’s soon to be summer signing, Sampdoria midfielder Lucas Torreira.
The ex-talkSPORT presenter stated on Twitter that the capture of the 22-year-old was exactly what the Gunners needed and exactly what they have been missing in the centre of the park.

Torreira was described as a “Gritty little so and so” by Collymore and it is words like this which will excite the Arsenal faithful who have been crying out for many years for a player who can fit into the combative role.
The 47-year-old, ex-Liverpool forward was reacting to a post on social media which declared that the North London club had agreed a deal for the Uruguayan midfield destroyer.

OPINION:
Collymore is absolutely spot on with his opinion. There will be many who agree that Torreira is what Arsenal need, having lacked a player in the midfield zone who will chase and harry, not allowing the opposition a minute on the ball. That is not forgetting the fact that the 22-year-old is more than capable of putting a foot in where it counts. However, at 5ft 5in (source: transfermarkt), he does not exactly break the mould of being a Wenger-esque type footballer, as the Frenchman was knowingly fond of players with a lower centre of gravity and they really could do with a physical beast in that respect. However, if Torreira can commence his career at the Emirates as he left Sampdoria, the Gunners faithful will be rejoicing that they have finally solved their weakness in the centre of the park. With Aaron Ramsey a potential midfield partner, next season could be a return to their former status as one of the top teams in the Premier League.
