Rangers’ director of football Mark Allen has stated that the club could be doing their transfer business right up until the end of August which will undoubtedly excite the Light Blues masses.

The Gers have already been prevalent in the transfer market this summer making a wealth of signings whilst at the same time showing a number of players the exit door.

But having already confirmed deals for Jamie Murphy, Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor, Ovie Ejaria, Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic, Allen has hinted that they are not yet done and that more announcements could be made in the coming weeks.

As quoted on the club’s website, the director of football said: “It is a long window and things tend to happen as the window evolves.

“We are continually in dialogue every single day about players in terms of how they are doing and other targets etc.

“People become available, people become surplus etc. so I think it is something which will go all the way to the end of August.”

OPINION:

This is exactly the kind of news that will have supporters licking their lips at the prospect of guessing who could be next to arrive at Ibrox this summer. Gerrard and Co. have been busy so far in landing their targets as it was looking as though they would be doing most of their business earlier on in the window rather than later so as to give the new players time to integrate into the squad. Martin Skrtel, the Fenerbahce defender, is a name that has been hotly linked with a move to the Scottish giants and a report in Yenia Akit suggested that a move could be back on after financial terms, according to the Daily Record, appeared to be a sticking block in any potential transfer. If there is any movement on that front, it is likely to go on right until the death. There has also been talk of signing Peterborough United hotshot Jack Marriott this summer, according to The Scottish Sun, as well as a number of other names in the mix so with Allen’s statement fans will be hoping they can pull off even more transfers that will enable them to compete with Celtic next season.
