Leeds United could be about to announce their first exit under Marcelo Bielsa’s reign at Elland Road with the news that Felix Wielwald is wanted by Eintracht Frankfurt, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The report states that the stopper, who has been cast into the shadows at the Yorkshire club following the emergence of Bailey Peacock-Farrell into the first team in goal, is wanted by his former side as their current stopper Frederik Ronnow is set to exit now that his contract has come to an end.

Wieldwald played 28 games in the Championship for the Whites this season before Paul Heckingbottom opted to axe the stopper in favour of the 21-year-old.

It is believed that Leeds are open to approaches for Wiedwald and want to get rid of him just 12 months into his three-year contract.

Good move for Leeds?

Yes. There seems little point in keeping the German at the club who seemingly offers no quality backup should his younger teammate fall foul to injury.

The German struggled in his first season Elland Road and was at fault for a number of errors in between the sticks which were quickly noted by the Leeds faithful.

Once his confidence took a hit,  and Peacock-Farrell came into the side, Wiedwald never looked as though he was going to get another look in the side.

Likely to happen?

The German was one of a number of signings made by director of football Victor Orta which did not go down well with the Leeds support and this shows that Bielsa is in tune with fans and knows that the keeper does not match the quality the Whites need in order to mount a promotional challenge on the Championship.

We think that the 28-year-old will leave the club this summer but that will also spell the need for a new top quality shot-stopper.
