Leeds United have held face-to-face talks with Argentinian manager Marcelo Bielsa over taking charge of the club this summer, according to Football Insider.

The website, who have proven to be a reputable source of information surrounding the Whites, state that owner Andrea Radrizzani is personally leading the charge to take the 62-year-old to Elland Road as he plots a stunning change in the dugout.

Football Insider have stated that current boss Paul Heckingbottom is to be sacked this weekend, just four months after taking charge, and that the Italian chief is already working on his replacement, with discussions between Bielsa and the club in full swing, with the Argentine currently without a club after being axed by Lille back in 2017.

Opinion.

Wow. If Leeds fans had any doubts over whether Radrizzani was fully committed to getting the very best for the club, then those fears can be washed away. Bielsa is an outstanding manager and has a pedigree that very few in the top flight can boast, let alone England’s second tier. He has worked wonders with the likes of Athletic Bilbao, taking the Spanish side to the Europa League final, and were he to take the job on, it would be reminiscent of Newcastle having Champions League winner Rafael Benitez at the helm for their short stint in the Championship. There will be few supporters hoping that Heckingbottom stays with Bielsa waiting in the wings, and the sooner they ship the former Barnsley boss out, the quicker the new man can get underway with his summer plans. It is exciting times at Elland Road, and there will be a renewed sense of optimism after such a disappointing campaign.
