Leeds United are set to bid auf wiedersehen to the German goalkeeper Felix Wiewald this summer, with a move to Eintracht Frankfurt on the cards according to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The newspaper stated that Leeds were open to approaches for Wiedwald and wanted to move him despite having time left on his contract.

And fans are absolutely thrilled to hear the news that 28-year-old’s exit could be new manager Marcelo Bielsa’s first act in the transfer window.

The German, who only arrived at Elland Road last summer following his move from Werder Bremen, is under contract to the Whites until 2020 and was one of the many signings brought in by director of football Victor Orta that has flopped.

Despite being handed the number one jersey under Thomas Christiansen’s reign at the club, he found himself out of the side following a string of poor performances which also coincided with youngster, Bailey Peacock-Farrell’s emergence into the first team, who has done everything and above to ensure that the position remains his own.

Wiedwald spent two years at Frankfurt before his move to Bremen in 2015 and are clearly admirers of the keeper’s abilities which is more than can be said for the Whites faithful, some of whom were offering to give the 6ft 2in (source: Transfermarkt) player a lift to the airport to complete his move away from the club.

Here is a selection of reactions on social media from Leeds supporters who would be glad to see the back of the German stopper:
