Leeds United goalkeeper Felix Wiedwald is in line for the exit at Elland Road amid interest from German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, who are interested in taking the goalkeeper back to his home country – and the Leeds faithful have made their opinions clear on social media.
The 28-year-old outcast is now the third string goalkeeper at Leeds behind first choice Bailey Peacock-Farrell, and may be unhappy with his current situation at the club given the fact he is not getting regular football.
The German has attracted the interest of Frankfurt, who finished 11th in the Bundesliga last season. Their Director of Football, Bruno Hubner addressed the club’s interest in the stopper, but all they can do now is wait.
“It is correct that we deal with a return action by Felix Wiedwald. However, we cannot report anything but a fix and we have to wait a little bit more,” he said, as quoted by Frankfurt’s official Twitter account on Monday.

Frankfurt are offering the keeper a way out of his Leeds nightmare, who has had to endure bad luck throughout his playing career after being ousted as first choice at former club Werder Bremen.
Here is a selection of Twitter responses from Leeds United supporters following the news of the unwanted goalkeeper’s exit from the club:
Never got settled. Still don’t think he deserves as much stick as majority give him. Awful season mind you

I struggle to name a poorer Leeds keeper. Mark Beeney and Ronnie Sinclair are the nearest but I think he is worse than either of those.

Hurry up and take him back to his home planet please

Wiedwald struggled to impress at Elland Road, being axed to the bench by Thomas Christiansen during his time in charge for a short period of games while Paul Heckingbottom dropped him out of the squad completely in the final weeks of the campaign.
