Leeds United fans have been left delighted on social media after the club confirmed that left back Tom Pearce had put pen to paper over a new long term deal.

The Whites confirmed that Pearce had committed his future at Elland Road with a four-year contract, having been something of a revelation in the first team over recent months.

Despite the January signing of Laurens De Bock, the 20-year-old full back found himself fast tracked into the starting XI and impressed with his displays, making five appearances under former manager Paul Heckingbottom, who also brought Bailey Peacock-Farrell from the youth side into the senior squad.

There was much doubt over what the future held for Pearce, with his old contract set to expire this summer, leaving him as a potential free agent for rival clubs to pounce on.

However, the new long term contract will likely keep him at Elland Road for the next couple of years as he looks to establish himself as the regular first choice left back under whoever the new manager may be, with Heckingbottom having been let go from the role at the start of the month.

Fans were raving over the announcement, with many congratulating those at the top for keeping hold of their young star.

Here are a handful of some of the supporters’ messages after it was announced:
