Argentinian coach Marcelo Bielsa is demanding that Leeds United get their transfer activity underway before pre-season if he is to take the vacant manager’s position this summer, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Phil Hay.

The reporter states on his personal Twitter account that negotiations between the experienced boss, whose last job was at Lille before he was axed in 2017, and the Whites are ongoing, and that he is running the rule over the senior squad at Elland Road.

It is stated that Bielsa is demanding that there are deals completed before the players come back from their off-season break, and with two weeks before pre-season kicks off, the deadline has been set and the clock is ticking for Leeds to get some new arrivals through the door.

Opinion

Fans should be worried if Bielsa is looking over the squad, for he will surely realise that they are a world away from being at the quality they need to be to match his aspirations. He is a born winner and will be demanding the very best to take Leeds from their lowly 13th place finish last season to competing at the top of the table. It is no surprise to hear he wants new signings through the doors over the next two weeks and now is the time for Andrea Radrizzani to dig into his pockets and splash the cash on quality which will improve the first team. There can be no repeats of last summer’s experiments, which saw quantity in the form of unproven talents rather than quality brought in at Elland Road. The demands have been made, and there can be no time to delay if Leeds are going to get Bielsa in as their new manager.
