Nottingham Forest are set to offer Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton a two-year deal according to the Nottingham Post and fans are distinctly unimpressed after hearing the news.
The Villans are reportedly desperate to offload players in a bid to meet Financial Fair Play requirements as their finances have come under the microscope.
Hutton had a spell at the City Ground back in 2013 on a loan basis but the City Ground outfit are now reportedly looking at signing the 33-year-old permanently.
The defender, who can play either on the right or the left of defence, is out of contract at Villa Park this summer but he is one of the players that Steve Bruce is looking at keeping hold of this summer having previously stated that the Scot had “gone to a different level” in the Mirror, since he moved to left-back.
It would seem that despite being an important part of the Villa side which made it into the play off finals, and despite making 29 appearances in the Championship for the Birmingham club, the Reds faithful do not want to see Hutton return to the City Ground.
Here is a selection of Twitter reactions from Forest fans on social media who have been responding to the news:
Exactly the sort of signing we should be avoiding. (And he was dire when on loan with us a few years ago, too).

The more you say we are not turning into a Dad's Army the more it looks like we are if this news is right (doesn't fill me with joy). But sticking to the view that let's judge the squad after ALL the summer signings have been completed.

I’d sooner keep Lichaj, unless that deal has something to do with the Max Clark deal.
