There has been intense speculation recently regarding Arsenal’s transfer activity after the club were linked to a number of talented individuals, but there is one player who is currently not on their radar.

Alassane Plea, who plays for Ligue 1 outfit Nice, has been the subject of interest from North London rivals Tottenham, who have even tabled a bid in the region of £22million according to French football site Foot Mercato.

The Gunners must hijack their bitter Premier League rivals’ swoop for Plea if they want a prolific striker amongst their ranks who can really help them make a solid impact on the top four.

The Frenchman has netted 21 goals during the 2017/2018 season, laying on a further seven assists for his side in what has been an impressive season for the centre-forward.

Arsenal have not had a striker who is prolific as Plea since they had Robin Van Persie on the books, and they are in serious need of a dangerous talisman who has the ability to spearhead their attack.

They sold their most talented striker Olivier Giroud to rivals Chelsea whilst former manager Arsene Wenger was in charge – and despite him getting older, he was the only one in the team who you could count on to score goals when Arsenal really needed them.

Nevertheless, a forward such as Plea is just what Arsenal need right now. New boss Unai Emery is in the process of giving the squad a revamp, and what a better way to do that than hijack a fellow rival’s pursuit of the same player.

Spurs already have a player who can head their attack in the form of England captain Harry Kane, compared to Arsenal who are seriously lacking in that area of the field.

Even lower-ranked teams in the Premier League do not fear facing Arsenal anymore, and they believe that they are capable of beating them because they do not pose any real threat going forward.

The Gunners must negotiate a deal for such a talented striker, or else face a long season in which they finish outside of the top four, missing out on Champions League football for yet another season.
