Tottenham attacker Erik Lamela once again turned in a shocking performance at the weekend, as his side slipped to a 1-0 loss against relegation candidates West Brom in the Premier League.

Fans got to see the worst of the 26-year-old in the defeat and he needs to be axed from the starting XI immediately by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The right-winger drifted through the game without proving much threat in the final third and some of his first touches let him down.

He has looked a shadow of the player he was since returning from a long-term injury, but too much time has passed now to solely blame it on that.

Lamela has now made 31 appearances across all competitions his season and his only two goals came in the club’s FA Cup run.

The trickster must have used up all nine lives with a string of poor displays and Pochettino must stop giving him so many opportunities.

The North London club have an array of attacking talents in their squad, with both Lucas Moura and Heung-Min Son placed on the bench at his expense against West Brom.

Lamela is not doing enough when on the pitch to warrant a starting role and it would be no surprise to see questions marks arise over his future in the summer.

The wide man could well need a move elsewhere to reignite his form and making a few changes of personnel in the squad for Spurs may not be the worst thing possible.
