Rangers fans have been reacting on Twitter to Steven Gerrard’s reported decision to hand Joe Dodoo a chance to impress him at Ibrox.
FootballGhana reported on Wednesday that Gerrard will surprisingly keep hold of Dodoo for his first season in management, even though the 22-year-old forward made just two appearances across all competitions for the club last season.
Dodoo spend the first half of the campaign on loan at Charlton, but was sent back to Ibrox in January after scoring two goals in just eight total appearances for the English League One club.
Graeme Murty completely overlooked using the ex-Leicester attacker though as he named him as an unused substitute just twice in the Scottish Premiership and handed him just two appearances off the bench in the Scottish Cup against Fraserburgh and Falkirk.
Even though the Ghana-born attacker is clearly on the fringes of the first team squad, it is now being reported from his birth nation that Gerrard will not offload him in the summer transfer window despite fans expected him to be a part of a clear out.
Now, those Gers fans have taken to social media to react to the news, with one claiming that the club needs to be “ruthless” in clearing out players this summer.

I'm seriously seeing people suggesting Joe Dodoo should stay as a rotation option. Not having it

History has certainly shown plenty examples of players being rejuvenated under a new manager. Shouldn't rule anyone out right now imo.

The cull needs to be ruthless, can't seriously expect to challenge for the title and 55 and accept utter mediocrity at best

MOH, dodoo, Forrester, Herrera, cardoso, Hodson, Halliday and miller should be first gone. If we sign 10-11 as expected, I think that gives us scope to then offload guys like alves or holt, or cash in on wes or windass.

Anyone else think joe dodoo hasn’t had a proper chance at rangers? Quite similar to Herrera tbh with just always coming off the bench! but tbh think dodoo still has some potential in there somewhere @Cjnovo992 @B4ZBowski @Snagsy1980

Joe Dodoo is expected to stay at Rangers, getting a second chance from Steven Gerrard.
I honestly thought he was on the way out. Interesting one that is.
