Rangers fans have been reacting on Twitter to Steven Gerrard’s reported decision to hand Joe Dodoo a chance to impress him at Ibrox.

FootballGhana reported on Wednesday that Gerrard will surprisingly keep hold of Dodoo for his first season in management, even though the 22-year-old forward made just two appearances across all competitions for the club last season.

Dodoo spend the first half of the campaign on loan at Charlton, but was sent back to Ibrox in January after scoring two goals in just eight total appearances for the English League One club.

Graeme Murty completely overlooked using the ex-Leicester attacker though as he named him as an unused substitute just twice in the Scottish Premiership and handed him just two appearances off the bench in the Scottish Cup against Fraserburgh and Falkirk.

Even though the Ghana-born attacker is clearly on the fringes of the first team squad, it is now being reported from his birth nation that Gerrard will not offload him in the summer transfer window despite fans expected him to be a part of a clear out.

Now, those Gers fans have taken to social media to react to the news, with one claiming that the club needs to be “ruthless” in clearing out players this summer.
