Tottenham are eyeing up a move for Lille midfielder Yves Bissouma this summer as they look to replace their own central star Mousa Dembele, according to a report.

Sky Sports have revealed that the 21-year-old has been a target for Spurs throughout the campaign with the future of the Belgian international’s shrouded in doubt, and that they could pounce over the coming months.

Dembele is yet to commit to a new contract with the North Londoners and with the 30-year-old out of contract next summer, if he does not sign now, Daniel Levy will most likely sell his asset.

Good move for Tottenham?

Bissouma is young and has the world at his feet, but he is still a raw talent and in comparison to the cool-headed Belgian who is rarely ruffled, the young Malian has a tendency to be erratic and his decision making is at times, questionable.

Nonetheless, his ability to cover every inch of the pitch, his drive, as well as his desire to be at the centre of everything that is going on, would make him popular at Spurs.

But, better than Dembele? The jury is out on that one!

Likely to happen?

The longer that Dembele does not put pen to paper on a new deal, the more likely that Spurs will choose to sever ties with the midfielder.

It had been suggested that the 30-year-old wanted a new three-year deal but it is highly unlikely that the club will meet his demands, particularly as it had looked as though injuries were getting the better of the player in the earlier part of the season.

We can see Dembele being moved on this summer, which means Mauricio Pochettino will be in the market for a new central midfield star.

With a new stadium to pay for, it is unlikely Spurs will have a massive budget to play with, meaning Bissouma would likely fit the mould of a cheap but quality deal.
