Rangers’ director of football Mark Allen is prioritising three new signings ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper claims that the transfer guru, who plays a huge role in signings at Ibrox, is working hard with his scouting team to secure three new players for key areas.

It is understood that the Light Blues want two brand new centre-backs ahead of next season, while a marquee striker is the third person they hope to see arrive through the entrance door.

Rangers fans are already excited about next season as they prepare to welcome Steven Gerrard to Glasgow and it will be a huge test for the Liverpool icon in his first taste of senior management. He clearly has the footballing brain and there is a buzz around him joining, but he will be fighting a losing battle if they don’t get their business right in the summer window. Gerrard needs to ensure that he is working alongside Allen to bring in players he wants and it appears like the heart of the defence has already been highlighted. They have conceded 44 league goals this season and to challenge for silverware they will have to tighten up their backline tenfold. Meanwhile, a new striker is also reportedly on their radar and some fresh competition for Alfredo Morelos next season is imperative. Rangers fans are hopeful that Gerrard can help attract some high-profile players to his team, but ultimately it will be up to the club to financially back him.
