Newly appointed West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini wants to keep Javier Hernandez at the club and make the hitman central to their team, according to reliable club insider ExWHUemployee, and fans are thrilled after hearing news of the reports which come after it had been reported that the Mexican international was set to leave.

It was suggested in the January transfer window by the player’s agent, that the forward would look at exiting the London Stadium in a bid to secure regular first-team football, but the latest claims suggest he will be staying on under Pellegrini.

The 29-year-old was a bit-part player under Slaven Bilic and following him under David Moyes, only getting a major role in the XI after injuries ravaged the side.

Despite that, the Mexican still managed to notch up eight goals in 28 games in the Premier League, with his goals integral to the club’s survival in the top-flight during a season where they had threatened to drop back into the Championship.

Hernandez only signed for the Hammers last summer in a £16million move from Bayer Leverkusen, and supporters on social media are buzzing after hearing the reports and want to see their forward given more of an opportunity.

Here is a selection of Twitter reactions from Hammers fans after hearing the reports on Chicarito:
