Tottenham are doing a good deed for legendary forward Raul Gonzalez Blanco by letting him train at Hotspur Way and Mauricio Pochettino should make the most of his presence.

The retired forward, better known simply as Raul, is a football icon that was known for his clinical finishing ability throughout his career.

Raul scored 41 times in 103 appearances for Spain, and scored a mouthwatering 323 goals in 739 outings for Real Madrid as he lifted trophy after trophy with them.

However it seems Raul now has his heart set on taking a different route in football by getting his coaching badges, something Mauricio Pochettino’s side are apparently happy to help with.

Spurs’ official Twitter account tweeted out pictures of Mauricio Pochettino’s side training on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s game against West Bromwich Albion and took the time to announce that Raul was taking part in the session.

The London-based club were quick to confirm he was simply there to help himself on his way to achieving his coaching badges, but it would be rude not to make the most of his presence.

Especially when fellow Spainard, Fernando Llorente, is crying out for any kind of help he can get.

The 33-year-old arrived at Spurs last summer from Swansea City, after scoring regularly for the Swans, but has only scored five goals in 30 appearances for Pochettino’s side.

The experienced forward’s stats are even worse when you consider three of his goals were in the FA Cup against lower-ranked opposition, and that he’s only managed to aid his side’s Premier League position by grabbing one goal.

While Llorente is too old for a mentor, some helpful words from a player he admires, could help get his career back on track and make him able to score for Spurs.

Llorente previously described Raul as “simply incredible”, as quoted by Goal, after facing him when he was at Schalke and the current Spurs forward was at Athletic Bilbao.

The centre-forward may have misfired so many opportunities for Spurs so far, but it’s all about confidence and with a little word of advice from Raul, Pochettino could have a player whose issues in front of goal are suddenly fixed.

Therefore Pochettino should snatch the golden opportunity in front of him and ask Raul to dole out some advice to Llorente from his vast wealth of experience, in order to get the 33-year-old among the goals for Spurs.
