Mauricio Pochettino shared that he believes the key to Tottenham being successful is aggression and having players that take the game to their opposition.

The Argentinian manager was commenting on what his side needed to start doing to improve after suffering a surprise 1-0 loss to West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

“We need to realise that we need to be more aggressive from the beginning and not wait,” stated Pochettino, as quoted by Football.London.

“Maybe some details [can improve] but to be clinical in front of goal is our challenge, because I think this type of game, with the chances, possession, the possibility to play in the last third or in the opposite, half, we need to create more – more one v ones, be more aggressive, run forward in behind their defence

“I think the key is to be more aggressive, I think the team played well.”

Pochettino could be right with his assessment of what is causing Spurs to suffer disappointing results, such as the one against the Baggies, and luckily for him there’s a player who can solve his problems.

Lucas Moura has been sparingly used by the Premier League boss so far, and only made a brief cameo appearance in Spurs’ last game, but he’s exactly the player Pochettino describes that his side lack.

The Spurs is effectively ignoring Moura’s immense talent by not playing him regularly and wasting the 25-year-old by not giving him plenty of minutes to impress.

Pochettino claims Spurs lack aggression going forward, something Moura delivers, he wants his attackers to take on defenders more, Moura does that, he wants more chances created, something Moura is adept at and wants players to run behind defences, but guess what, Moura can do that too.

The 25-year-old Brazilian winger has showcased his knack for doing all of these skills in the nine appearances he has made for Spurs in his career so far.

Moura has already racked up three assists and scored a goal in the outings he has been allowed to make, so it’s bizarre if Pochettino really feels that way, why the winger isn’t playing more.

Especially when you consider Erik Lamela, who started the game against WBA, ahead of Moura has been awful in recent games.

So if Pochettino really thinks he has pinpointed what Tottenham lack, which causes disappointing results, then he must play Moura in the games that remain as the Brazilian is the answer to his prayers.
