With the summer transfer window looming large over Newcastle United, the Magpies need to get busy and work on sourcing a centre forward this summer – and their answer could lie at Arsenal.

The Magpies have suffered over the last 12 months as a result of their lack of a quality striker, summer arrival Joselu and winter loanee Islam Slimani failing to improve on what Dwight Gayle and Aleksandar Mitrovic had to offer.

With Premier League football next season, manager Rafael Benitez knows that he must improve on the firepower within the squad and that there could be a complete overhaul of the attacking options – but where should he start?

Well, the Magpies could do a lot worse than Arsenal hitman Danny Welbeck, who is reported by Fotospor to be a target for Turkish side Besiktas, and hijacking a swoop seems like a must for the north east side.

Benitez is lacking in both quality and experience when it comes to the top flight and with 198 Premier League appearances under his belt, the 27-year-old would certainly help on that front.

Having fallen behind Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the Emirates Stadium, the player himself could be looking for a move, and with just 12 months left before his contract expires and he is available for free, the Gunners may be looking to cash in.

Wages and the fee could pose a sticking point but it has been too long since Newcastle properly splashed out on a new signing, and Welbeck, despite his flaws, would be a huge improvement up front for the Magpies.
