Ian Wright claims he will be at a complete loss when it comes to understanding mangers if Jurgen Klopp selects Mohamed Salah to play for Liverpool against Chelsea on Sunday.

The former Arsenal forward shared, when predicting the Reds’ clash with the Blues, that he expected Salah to miss out on featuring in Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge.

“No one could blame them if they rested the likes of Firmino, Salah and Mane or even all three, I know Salah is desperate to win the Golden Boot and therefore will want to be involved,” wrote Wright in his predictions for The Sun.

“But if Klopp chances him so he can win a personal accolade over resting before the final then I’m at a complete loss when it comes to understanding managers!

“If he carries on doing what he’s doing he’ll probably end up with the Golden Boot and a European winner’s medal but there has to be a temptation to rest him.

“He looked to me to be on the periphery in the second leg against Roma so for me he needs to recharge his batteries and give it his all against Madrid.”

Wright, after explaining why he thought the 25-year-old winger should miss the Reds’ next game, went on to state that he thought the game between Chelsea and Klopp’s side would end as a 2-2 draw.

OPINION

Wright better prepare to be at a complete loss as Salah is going to ensure he plays one way or another. The 25-year-old looks determined to win the Premier League’s golden boot and he will we beg his manager to let him play. Salah knows he has to stay amongst the goals as Tottenham’s Harry Kane is very capable of bagging himself plenty of goals in the games that remain in order to grab the personal accolade from Salah’s clutches. Klopp may agree with Wright’s thinking but he won’t risk upsetting Salah or halting his momentum. The winger has been in prolific form this season, scoring 43 goals in 49 appearances, and a few pundits have already been found wrong over suggesting Salah needs a rest. Just when the 25-year-old looks out of fuel, he springs to life with a beautiful bit of skill, that normally leads to a goal. It’s interesting that Wright still won’t back a Chelsea win even though he expects Klopp to rest key players, which says a lot about what he thinks about the Reds’ current team.
