In a Liverpool side brimming with world class talent, it would be incredibly hard to pick one area where they are the weakest.

The Reds have put in some dazzling performances through the season, mostly thanks to their blistering attack, and could top the campaign off with the greatest honour available – the Champions League.

They will go up against a Real Madrid side looking to save some face after a bitterly disappointing domestic campaign, while Jurgen Klopp and his men are also seeking some silverware after failing to reach a final elsewhere.

Still, while Liverpool fans would be overjoyed at seeing their side lift the trophy in Kiev, they want to be seeing their side push for a league title, and although no one looked like they would come anywhere near Manchester City, the Reds gave them a good ride in their clashes.

What is lacking from Klopp’s men is the resoluteness in defence, a problem which was partly solved by the arrival of Virgil van Dijk, but despite their big spend on the Dutch powerhouse, more changes need to be made – with the goalkeepers an area of concern.

Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have hardly looked convincing and it seems as though Klopp has had enough, with a swoop for a footballing legend mooted.

The Sun claim that Liverpool head Manchester City to pull off a stunning swoop for Italy and Juventus icon Gianluigi Buffon as he comes to the end of his time with the Old Lady, and the 6’3″ giant could be the missing piece to the Reds’ Premier League glory.

His commanding nature is above and beyond what the current options between the sticks have and he would marshal the defence expertly, as well as being a brilliant shot stopper.

At 40-years-old, he may not have long left to continue his career but a final shot to add a Premier League trophy is no doubt tempting enough to keep him going – and his arrival could be all it takes to be lifting it at Anfield.
