Everton fans on social media heaped praise on attacker Oumar Niasse after watching his display against Southampton on Saturday.

The Toffees drew 1-1 with the Saints at Goodison Park and fans wanted to make it clear that there was at least one player they didn’t blame for the disappointing result.

One Toffees fan tweeted that Niasse was the club’s best player, while another claimed that the 28-year-old centre-forward had done more in two minutes than some of his teammates had done in 58 minutes.

Niasse was brought on as a substitute by Sam Allardyce in the second half of the match and instantly impressed fans with his workrate.

The forward didn’t get a goal for his efforts, but supporters were just glad to see one of their players trying to win.

One supporter took to Twitter to state that aside from Seamus Coleman, the centre-forward was the only other Toffees player to have a positive effect on the game.

Niasse has made 23 appearances this season, scoring 11 goals, while creating four, however despite these statistics he is used sparingly by Allardyce.

After witnessing his performance against the Saints, Everton fans will want to see him play more often and will urge their manager to select him.
