Rangers have already made three signings since the season ended with Steven Gerrard and Mark Allen wrapping up permanent deals for Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor and Jamie Murphy.

There is a lot of speculation about who will be next to put pen to paper at Ibrox and Football Whispers is reporting that Arsenal forward Eddie Nketiah is the most likely player to be the next signing for the Glasgow giants.

Football Whispers, a site that gathers all transfer rumours from around the world and calculates the likelihood of them materialising, rates it 3.3 out of 5 that the 18-year-old will be the next signing made by Gerrard – and that would be an absolute masterstroke by the new Rangers manager.

Nketiah has started to break into the Arsenal first team this season and even managed to rescue them from a League Cup humiliation by scoring twice off the bench to beat Norwich 2-1 in October.

That led to the England youth international being handed a new long-term deal by the Gunners, which according to the Sun is worth £15,000-a-week.

He has since been on fire for the Gunners in their Under-23s, scoring 12 times in 13 Premier League 2 outings, and is chomping at the bit to earn more first team football.

Rangers will surely be able to offer him a first team next term under Gerrard’s leadership, especially as there are doubts over the futures of Alfredo Morelos, Jason Cummings and Eduardo Herrera.

Nketiah’s pace and rawness will be something that would really threaten other Scottish Premiership sides and getting him in should be an absolute no-brainer for Gerrard and Allen.

He could absolutely dismantle teams who like to push forward a bit more and his quickness could be a real weapon against someone like Celtic, who Rangers have tried to beat on the counter attacks in the last few years.

The Gers have also loaned players from Arsenal before so there is clearly some kind of relationship between the two UK giants that can be used once again to send Nketiah to Ibrox.
