Pierre-Michel Lasogga; Jay-Roy Grot; Pawel Cibicki; Caleb Ekuban – the list of strikers at Leeds United hardly filled the opposition with much fear.

None of the senior quartet, all of which were brought in from overseas last summer, ever really hit the ground running and it was up to Kemar Roofe to net the goals which helped rescue some dignity up top.

Lasogga will not be at Elland Road next season after his loan spell ended but the other three could well be, leaving much to be desired in attack.

Recruitment is an absolute must but sourcing the right sort of talent for the budget that the Whites are on is a tough task.

One way which they might find some quality for a fair price is to scour the Premier League for attackers down the pecking order at top flight clubs – it worked out for Fulham and Aleksandar Mitrovic, so there is proof to the method.

So who is looking exit-bound, and who could do a job for Leeds?

Well, the future of Sam Baldock does not look any brighter heading into the summer, with Brighton having confirmed the capture of Deportivo Le Coruna striker Florin Andone via their official website.

The 25-year-old joins a Seagulls side brimming with attackers, joining Baldock, Glenn Murray, Tomer Hemed and Jurgen Locadia as the centre forward options, not to mention the out on loan Leonardo Ulloa.

Of those, Brighton’s number nine Baldock, who stands at a diminutive 5’5″ (source: Transfermarkt), seems the closest to the exit door with game time looking increasingly limited, having made just five appearances for the senior side last season.

With 33 goals in 136 Championship appearances, he has proven himself in England’s second tier and would be a drastic improvement on the current options up top at Elland Road – and with Andone’s arrival, a bargain swoop may well be on the cards.
