Rangers have tabled a second bid for Brighton defender Connor Goldson, which has yet again been rejected by the Premier League club, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper claimed in their live transfer blog on Friday [06:18pm] that Brighton have turned down two offers from the Gers for Goldson, 25, as manager Chris Hughton eyes up a potential replacement in Reading’s Liam Moore.

The Daily Mail has previously reported that Rangers were lining up a second offer worth £2million for Goldson, who stands at 6ft 3in according to transfermarkt, but it seems that that has now been rebuffed.

Good move for Rangers?

Goldson has had a tough couple of years after undergoing heart surgery, but it appears that he is still more than capable of playing for a top-flight team after making a handful of appearances for Brighton this term.

The 25-year-old has understandably dropped down the pecking order at the AMEX due to his fitness issues and the fact that promotion to the Premier League saw Hughton make major additions to his side.

The defensive colossus would be a fantastic addition at Ibrox and would surely improve on what has been a very poor rearguard effort in the last year.

Likely to happen?

Rangers may not want to spend a major amount on Goldson.

If their second bid was worth £2million, it’s hard to see them wanting to spend much more than that so they will either have to bump up their bid another £500,000 or play the waiting game.

Hughton may want to cash in on Goldson and as the transfer window goes on, the south coast club may become more likely to sell him for the price that the Gers will be willing to pay.
