Tottenham’s pursuit of silverware has ended for yet another season after an FA Cup semi-final defeat to Manchester United and that stretcher the trophy drought to 10 years.

They are still in pole position to finish inside the top four of the Premier League, but there are clearly a couple of pieces left to fill the jigsaw.

Spurs need to ensure they keep their top stars during the summer transfer window, while also going out and actively adding some real quality to their squad.

One area that Mauricio Pochettino desperately needs to improve is his options in attack, where the burden on first-choice centre-forward Harry Kane is too much.

It seems he has been rushed back from his latest injury and that is because back-up option Fernando Llorente has flopped when called upon this campaign.

Vincent Janssen started the trend last season with his struggles as the second-choice striker and Spurs need to go out to buy someone that can play under Kane.

The Daily Mail reports that Burnley are plotting a move for West Brom attacker Jay Rodriguez, who could be available in the summer with the club on the brink of Premier League relegation.

It is understood that the Baggies would look to recoup over £12million for the 28-year-old and that Burnley are keen on landing him.

However, Spurs should nudge them aside and go all out to bring him to North London.

Rodriguez previously worked with Pochettino at Southampton and was a big fan of him there, which is why the pair must be reunited.

The one-time capped England international has scored 11 goals in all competitions for a struggling West Brom side and is beginning to recapture his best form.

He is a centre-forward with a brilliant work-rate, attitude, and quality in the penalty area.

Rodriguez could definitely be that illusive striker Spurs are searching for and certainly has all the tools to slot in for Kane.
