Leeds United have just two games remaining this season to play out before attention can turn to the summer, where they need to regroup if they are to launch a push for promotion next season.

The Whites promised so much in the early stages of the campaign and looked right in the mix at the top-end of the Championship.

However, one of the main turning points was certainly the six-game ban that Samuel Said picked up in January, which massively derailed their promotion bid.

The Yorkshire giants occupied the final play-off spot when he picked up his suspension and ever since then have dropped down the table.

One of the biggest concerns for Leeds is that Saiz has not scored since his return and is without a goal since November, despite returning a tally of nine this season.

The attacking midfielder has chipped in with just three assists in the second half of the season and looks a shadow of the player he once was.

He made a colossal start to life at Elland Road following his summer arrival and was an expressive playmaker full of confidence.

Saiz was exceptionally good at taking the ball on the half-turn and penetrating opposition defences with his intelligence.

However, he has gone from hero to zero and has not completed 90 minutes in either of the last three league matches.

Current Leeds boss Paul Heckingbottom needs to try lift him for the final two fixtures of this season and there is no doubt momentum could be key going into next year.

Saiz has to be at the heart of the side next season because he has the quality, but the manager needs to find a way to bring the best out of him.

The Spaniard is a luxury player that can make a difference in the final third, but needs to perhaps add some more work-rate to his game and not shrug off all defensive duties.
