Rangers fans on social media slammed defender Russell Martin for his performance against Hearts on Sunday.

The Gers may have defeated Hearts 2-1 at Ibrox, but supporters had no kind words to share about Martin regarding his display.

One Rangers fan tweeted that the 32-year-old centre-back was one of the worst defenders they had ever seen at the club and they remember watching Emilson Cribari play.

While another fan claimed that if there wasn’t another fit centre-back in the squad to replace Martin, then Graeme Murty should look to run a ‘spot the ball’ competition with the winner replacing the defender in the first-team.

Martin arrived at Ibrox in January after joining on loan from Norwich City and is due to return to his parent club at the end of the season.

One supporter took to Twitter during the victory over Hearts to reveal that they would be shocked if the club signed him on a permanent basis once his loan deal expires.

The Gers enforcer has made 14 appearances for the club since joining, and has scored one goal in his outings.

However Martin has only helped his side achieve five clean sheets while featuring in the heart of the Gers’ defence.
