Manchester City are reportedly prepared to sell defender John Stones in the summer – and Everton fans on Twitter have urged the club to re-sign him.

The England international left Goodison Park in 2016 to join Man City after a three-year spell with the Merseyside club.

He has gone on to win the Premier League and League Cup this campaign, but faces serious competition for his centre-back position at the Etihad Stadium.

The Sun reports that Man City are even willing to show him the exit doors at the end of the season now that he is the fourth-choice option in the heart of defence behind Vincent Kompany, Aymeric Laporte and Nicolas Otamendi.

It is understood that manager Pep Guardiola would reluctant allow him to leave, with both Arsenal and Liverpool named as potential suitors.

The report details that Stones is currently on a £100,000-a-week deal with Man City and that they would want to recoup most of the £47.5million they originally paid for him.

Everton fans on social media have responded to the Stones news by stating that they should try to bring him back and feel that he would massively boost their backline.

The Toffees have endured a mediocre campaign and conceded 54 goals in their 35 Premier League games, with the likes of Ashley Williams and Michael Keane struggling for large spells at centre-back.

Everton supporters are convinced re-signing Stones would be a positive step for the them, but the Sun’s report does state he may be out of the price range of most clbus.
