Yannick Bolasie completed 59 minutes in the win over Newcastle United – and Everton fans on Twitter decided to annihilate him over the quality of his performance.

The Toffees moved up to eighth in the Premier League table after they earned a narrow 1-0 victory at home to Newcastle at Goodison Park.

Sam Allardyce’s side ended a run of three league games without a victory, as Theo Walcott’s second-half strike helped them to earn three points.

The Merseyside club jumped ahead of Leicester into eighth in the table and their remaining games of the season come against Huddersfield, Southampton and West Ham.

Everton fans on social media decided to single out Bolasie for his display against Newcastle and were full of criticism.

The 28-year-old left-winger has not rediscovered his top form since returning from injury in the second half of the season and has one goal under his belt.

He played an important role in Walcott’s goal with a deep cross into the penalty area that fell into his path, but overall supporters feel he lacked quality in the final third.

Bolasie has managed to continue being a mainstay in Allardyce’s XI despite heavy criticism, meaning the likes of Nikola Vlasic and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have to make do with fringe roles.
