Aston Villa are considering a summer approach to Bournemouth for striker Lewis Grabban after his loan deal at Villa Park expires, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The regional newspaper claims that the Midlands giants are planning to make his temporary move a permanent one at the end of the season.
It is understood that Steve Bruce’s side are drawing up potential summer targets and the 30-year-old is being considered.

The report also details that Villa may plan moves to sign Sam Johnstone and Robert Snodgrass once their loan deals expire.

Grabban spent the first half of the campaign out on loan with Sunderland, before linking up with Villa for the second.

He has scored a combined total of 19 Championship goals this season for the two clubs, with seven of them coming during his 13 appearances for Bruce’s side.

The striker has played a vital role in the push for promotion and is set to lead the line during the play-offs.

Good move for Villa?

A move for Grabban would very much depend on what division the club are playing in next season.

The Jamaican has netted just one Premier League goal during his career and it’s unlikely he could make a serious impact in the top flight, but has proven that at Championship level he is deadly.

Likely to happen?

At this stage Grabban is only named as a potential target for the summer and it’s too soon to work out whether they would pursue him.

Manager Bruce will hope to get his side over the line for promotion and go from there.
