Leeds Untied are in pole position to sign Barnsley defender Andy Yiadom at the end of the season, according to a reliable journalist.

The Sun’s transfer expert Alan Nixon reported on his personal Twitter account that the Whites are “strong favourites” to bring the 26-year-old to Elland Road.

His deal with Championship outfit Barnsley expires in the summer and he could be set to join their Yorkshire rivals, which would mean a reunion with his former manager Paul Heckingbottom.

Yiadom is a versatile full-back that is usually deployed on the right, but can fill in on the left when required.

Good move for Leeds?

Signing Yiadom would be a decent piece of business for Leeds and a step towards the right direction.

The Ghanian defender could make an instant impact in the Whites first team and has proven he can handle himself at Championship level.

Leeds have had problems at right-back since Luke Ayling’s long-term injury and he could provide good competition in that spot.

He is a modern day full-back that likes to bomb forward into attack and has three assists under his belt this season in 31 appearances for a Barnsley side fighting relegation.

Likely to happen?

Leeds certainly look primed to snap up Yiadom ahead of next season, as his exit from Barnsley looks a formality.

Heckingbottom’s influence is set to play an early role in the club’s transfer business and he would be able to get the best out of the full-back.
