Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham has claimed on Twitter that he is not leaving the club in the summer despite reports stating he may have played his last game for the club.

The Scottish Sun had reported that the 27-year-old will be shown the Iborx exit doors in the near future and that Hull City’s Allan McGregor will arrive as his replacement to be the new number one for next season.

It was explained that Championship duo Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday were lining up moves for Foderingham, but he looks set to remain with the Scottish giants after his Twitter revelation.

He was asked on social media why he was leaving the Light Blues and he simply responded “I’m not”, as cited by his personal Twitter account.

Foderingham has been the first-choice option in goal this season for the Gers and enjoyed a three-year stint at Ibrox.

He has made 37 appearances across all competitions this season and kept 11 clean sheets in return.

OPINION

Foderingham has come out to shed some light on his future and it seems fairly clear that he will remain with the club over the summer. The English goalkeeper still has two years remaining on his contract and keeping him will keep competition for the number one jersey at an all-time high. McGregor is reportedly set to link up with the side and they could have a solid battle for the main starting position. Foderingham definitely does have a mistake in him, as shown during his time under Graeme Murty, but there are not too many better in the Scottish top flight. He should soon be entering his peak years for a goalkeeper and has made a smart move by assuring fans of his future on social media.
