West Ham are drawing up a two-year deal for manager David Moyes with talks scheduled once the club ensure Premier League survival, according to the Daily Mail

The newspaper report that the club’s top brass have been suitably impressed by Moyes, and the Scot has already begun to identify summer transfer targets.

The Mail claim that Moyes is eyeing up a more hands-on role in recruitment after a disappointing January window in which the Hammers missed out on a midfielder.

It is said that Moyes is lining up a potential move for Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is currently on loan at Fulham, with the Serb being personally scouted twice by the Scot.

OPINION

Moyes has not just impressed the West Ham hierarchy, but everyone involved with the club. The Scot has introduced discipline and order at a club which were lacking both, and has steered them clear of the relegation danger they were previously mired in. While relegation still remains a possibility, their massive win over Southampton at the weekend put them five points clear of the bottom three, and things are looking good for survival. The fact that Moyes is planning for the summer already is a positive sign, and it will be interesting to see the signings he makes should everything go to plan between now and the end of the season.
