It will be a very bizarre turn of events in the summer at West Ham if the club opt to sign goalkeeper Joe Hart on a permanent basis.

The Daily Mirror reported on Friday that the Hammers were open to the idea of permanently signing the 6ft 4in tall goalkeeper after his loan deal at the club expires.

Hart is currently on loan at the Hammers from Manchester City after joining them last summer, and is currently due to return to his parent club once the season ends.

The Sun previously claimed that the Hammers were unlikely to try and keep Hart at the club beyond his current loan deal.

However if the Mirror’s report is correct, there’s a real chance that the 31-year-old will be at the London Stadium next season.

This would be a very bizarre decision by the club or the player to make, as both clearly have not enjoyed a successful time together.

Hart has put in some shocking performances during his 22 outings for the Hammers this season, and has cost his side vital points after consistently making blunders.

The 31-year-old goalkeeper’s display got so bad at one point in the season, that he was dropped in favour of Adrian, even though the club pay Hart £120,000-a-week, according to The Sun, in wages.

Hart’s performances have arguably helped put the Hammers in danger of being relegated this season, and it’s hard to see why the club would want to keep him around in order to put them in jeopardy once again.

It would also be a weird choice if the 31-year-old colossus decided to stay at the club.

Hart originally decided to join the Hammers in order to ensure he got the first-team football needed to ensure he was picked to go to the World Cup with England, according to The Guardian.

The goalkeeper’s decision appears to have been a bad one as due to his torrid time at the London Stadium, the Daily Mirror reported that Hart was likely to be left at home when England travel to Russia in the summer.

So with all that in mind if the Hammers or Hart even pursue the idea of staying together for another season, it will simply be a bizarre turn of the events after the season they both have endured.
